We're blessed with an assortment of majestic trees on the west coast. One particularly stunning tree is the Arbutus with its brilliant coloured trunk, limbs twisting every which way. Another, the glorious west coast maple, sometimes creating the most stunning 'burled' look.
This 'one man' Heartwood Studio in the Cowichan Valley has handcrafted these simple, but gorgeous hardwood stir sticks, finished with a fine walnut oil. Much of the Vancouver island salvaged wood he works with has a story. Like the 100 year old Apple Tree that fell in a storm in 2020. If only trees could talk ..!
